"A Rare Catch" – Merchong
Race to the FADs that was not to be
The boss, all set to go catch some big fish
A fishing trip may not always end up as a fishing trip. That’s what happened the Sunday of May 18. The wind was too strong that day and the seas was too rough for our small boat.
This as it turned out was our first ever canceled trip in 20 years or so of fishing. We were either unlucky that day, or had been lucky all this while. A fishing trip might not always end up being a fishing trip.
Bumpy ride for the boss
The outing with its 5 hour journey each direction to Merchong was made pleasant by the great company available. Everyone was looking forward to an excellent trip. The boss especially since it would have been his first saltwater fishing trip which sadly turned out to be just a bumpy boat ride.

Still, we had good laughs most of the way. We ended up gorging to our delights since there was no fishing to be done (as if we wouldn’t have gorged ourselves in the first place!). The food at Restoran VIVI was good and reasonably priced. The same can’t be said for the dinner the night before though. The food was just Okay I’d say but the bill did not justify the dishes we had. That’d be the last time for us dining at Restoran Rompin Baru. I have to remind myself to snap some picture of the food we eat the next time.
“Aaahh… what a beautiful morning…”
